How to Talk at a Trade Show
It might seem obvious that meeting and speaking with either current or potential customers at trade shows is an important part of the trade show experience, but here are some tips as to how to make that interaction a positive one. First, be aware of your appearance. Dress appropriately. Don ‘t chew gum or eat food in the trade show exhibit itself. Stand tall and refrain from folding your arms. Don’t forget to smile. Second, while it is okay to talk with other booth staff, don’t get engrossed in a deep conversation. You need to appear available and approachable. Next, greet people with a firm handshake and look them in the eye. Don’t be afraid to venture out into the aisle to do this. If you are confident and polite, even if they are not interested in meeting with you, most people will give you a favorable response. Attendance and practice are great ways of refining your trade show speaking skills.
