Fix a Slab Leak

December 1st, 2009

Slab leak repair can be as simple as removing a piece of the floor, repairing the problem and putting the floor back the way it was. It can also be as complicated as having to reroute pipes if the leak is in a place where it’s not easily accessed. It’s possible for slab leak repairs to be done by the homeowner if it’s a small problem. All you have to do is turn the water off, lift the part of the floor where you think the leak is, replace the broken pipe, pour new concrete and cover the floor up again. If it’s a big problem, it’s time to call a plumber. The cost starts at $1,000 and goes up from there depending on the size of the problem. However, the longer you wait to fix a slab leak, the more damage it causes and the more expensive it is to fix.
