Aloe Vera Plants

June 13, 2009 Health & Fitness No Comments

I remember growing up how much my grandmother loved her aloe vera plants. She kept several for decoration and for scrapes and cuts. The plant is a part of the lily family something I never really knew until recently. Its leaves are thick and a light green in color with pale white dots and points along the edges.

The plant’s wonderful juice is housed at the center of the leaf and is used to make a gel or liquid that can be drank for it’s nutritional benefits or consumed in  vitamin supplements such as SeaAloe. The juice can also be applied to minor cuts, scrapes and burns to the skin. It is also used in lotions, cosmetics and hair products.

With all of the wonderful benefits, it’s no wonder my grandmother was such a fan of her aloe vera plants. It’s just too darn bad I don’t have the same green thumb as she did!
